Spring Session Locations!

I am so happy to be writing this because spring, (well and summer and fall) are my very favorite seasons!  As spring approaches, I also start thinking about the blooms, green grass, pastel colors and photo sessions.  I thought I would offer you some of my favorite locations to highlight the beauty of spring as well as places i just love shooting in.

Tippy top of the list is the Japanese Gardens and Rose Gardens off Lake Harriet in Minneapolis.  This location is one of those wonderful places not only to have photos taken at, but also to take a walk around the lake and see some of the city.  The park is filled with flowering trees, loads of perennials and annuals. It also contains two fountains as well as a pathway straight to the lake.  If you are adventurous enough, a slight walk will take you to one of the beaches and the bandshell. Weekends are crazy busy with the general public out and about as well as other Minneapolis photographers and their clients.  I would highly recommend a weeknight to utilize the park if it is possible with your schedule.  Also check to make sure there are no events going on as this is a popular Minneapolis lake and connected to the Minneapolis trail system where various races take place throughout the year.

Another beautiful location is Como Park.  The option of shooting in the conservatory is always there (for a sight fee of $50 for up to 3 people) you can meander through the indoor gardens as well as the outdoor gardens that are typically planted at the end of April.  Taking a walk down to Como lake will give you more options and let you take advantage of the spring weather.  Again, this is a heavily populated location, but can be beautiful if you are ok with the crowds.

The Maple Grove Arboretum

Father Hennepin Park near the Stone Arch Bridge

All of which have some sort of flowers, but also bridges and buildings in close proximity to add more textures and tones to your session.

Various parks around your city can also be great spots for photos.  I know of a few other small parks where there are lakes and fresh growth happening as well as new flowers planted. If you are interested in setting up your session, please contact me with more information and availability.  I’d love to get you in for a Mini Session or full session!!
