60, golfing, and cheesecake

60 is one of those BIG ages.  One for celebrations and family.  My dad hit the 60 mark in July, and my sisters and I wanted to think of something that was totally different to celebrate his big day. Because there are 6, soon to be 7, grand kids under five, we wanted to do something with the adults only.

My dad loves golf.  Wait that is an understatement… he loves, loves, loves golf.  Unfortunately none of us girls really like it that much.  I tried to go with him while I was in High School and it was pathetic.  Probably because I am so non competitive, and I just wanted to talk to him the whole time.  Both my sisters had the same experience.  He was gracious about it, but we thought it was time for a re-try.

I have to say, I actually really enjoyed the game that day.  Probably not the golf aspect, but the family time.   My stomach hurt so much by the end of the day.  From the clues that my sister Claire made for the course to the reckless driving we did with the golf carts, to the made up rules, I think the celebration was a success.  We continue to thank God for the gift of my dad each day.

See how much I love golf?  I play in flip flops!

And to end the day, we celebrated with a family favorite: cheesecake!

(Just a side note; the men played competitively on a team while me, my mom and sisters tried…. but failed miserably.)
