Last week I was looking through some web-sites relating to the Haiti earthquake and was actually moved to tears seeing this photo. It not only embodied the devastation of the land in that area, but the lives of the people that had been destroyed. It left me feeling at an utter loss, trying to figure out, like many of us in the US, what I could do to help. On Tuesday I received an e-mail from a friend relating to the orphans there. The headline of the blog read: URGENT CALL TO ACT – Tuesday, January 19, 2010, and continued to urge anyone reading the blog to contact senators and congressmen to create an evacuation plan to get these children out of Haiti and into the US. So I acted. For the first time in my life I did the research to contact 2 senators and 3 congressmen, and am thankful to have been a part of it.
Today I was doing a follow up and the top headline read:
Press Release – January 22, 2010
Orphans Bound for U.S. in Two Groups
Eighty-two orphans will depart Haiti on Saturday.
Again, I am left in tears that the great God of the universe has heard, and has moved through the hands of many people.
