Omi

We got the call Saturday.

I was busy shopping and celebrating my 30th birthday totally oblivious to the situation.  I strolled the aisles contemplating where those 30 years had gone while her body lay lifeless, but her soul rejoicing.  I remembered what life was like to only think of me, and how 4 others to care for, think about, and plan around was so difficult.   She, on the other hand, had 6 others to think about, a new language to learn and a new country to get adjusted to when she was 30.  She had seen Hitler rise to power and remembered how she fled her family to Argentina from Germany.  She watched her family leave her for a better life in America, get married, have children, learn yet another country and language and eventually follow them up to the US.  She watched grandchildren die, hurt with her children, give sound and wise advice, allow others into her growing family, and instill a Godly heritage that is now 3 generations old.

While I was busy thinking 30 was old, I was soberly reminded on this precious day that 91 is much older and I have so much more to learn.

While I was busy drinking my coffee,  she met the King of the Universe.

omi

We’ll miss you.
