Jeremy and I grew up together. We met while I was in 5th grade and he in 4th. Our families went to the same church. I had 2 sisters and no brothers, and over time Jeremy became our “adopted brother.” Even though we lived in different cities, we saw each other at least twice a week, if not more, as he hung out regularly at the Davis home. As we grew up and graduated from high school, we still hung out; going on youth trips together as “counselors” (What a joke as we were only a few years older than the kids we were supposed to be mentoring), hanging out together, me getting advise about guys from him and him receiving advise from me on girls. Over time he met his amazing wife Elizabeth and Eva was born a few years after that. This past weekend I had yet another chance to hang out with their family and do a session for them. Being that we hadn’t seen each other in almost a year, and that I had just met his new son, we had to do coffee afterward, just to catch up.
One of the reasons I had not seen Jeremy for a year is because he is a soldier and was deployed during part of 2008. We found this great tribute to the soldiers at the Coon Rapids Dam which fit their family perfectly. (Elizabeth used to be on active duty too (as an officer), but is now retired!)
