Mini Session, full session, what’s the difference and why or how is one better for your family?
I’m so glad you asked! This is a question I regularly get asked about and I would love to share with you some of my thoughts and things I have learned over the years about mini sessions and why they may (or may not) be a good fit for your family.
When a photographer refers to a mini session, most of the time they are referring to smaller session (15-30 minutes) that happen a few times a year, with the main focus being on capturing one main pose, say a family shot for a Holiday card, a milestone of a child or even an updated headshot. Depending on the ages of your kids and your expectation of photos, mini sessions can be a great way to get those few pictures that you are looking for at a reasonable cost in short amount of time.
If you are wanting multiple outfit changes, a few different locations, or have kiddos that take a while to warm up to new people, a full session might be better for you and your family.
Also, mini sessions typically happen in the location that the photographer chooses. (This is true of myself) and there are multiple families coming to that one location every 30 minutes for the day.
If you are wanting to choose your own location or have the photographer come to your home to capture more of your family in their element, my suggestion would be to do a full session.
Mini sessions can be a wonderful thing, and many of my clients rave about how quick they are especially when they have little people. Husbands love them as well because they appease their wives and 25 minutes goes by when they are having fun and playing with their kids and of course, kissing their wives!
If you are interested in a full or mini session, I’d love to chat. I am offering five different mini session dates and just added a few more times and one other date to the calendar! See this LINK to see what is still available!
