Rochester Winter Wedding:: Laura and Evin

Would you rather…

Get married on a beach or in the middle of winter in Rochester?  Laura and Evin chose the latter, and it is a game that this sweet couple played when they first started dating and still play when they need a good laugh!  The two met at Crossroads College in Rochester while Laura was working in the housing space on campus and Evin showed up as a renter and noticed the pretty brunette right away.  She knew he was a great renter, but wasn’t after a relationship. Two years later Evin finally gathered his nerve when the two were paired for a work project and he finally asked her out!

After dating for a year or so, Evin knew he wanted to ask Laura to be his wife.  They were on vacation at a cabin up north with Laura’s family.  After going out for pizza, Evin took Laura out for a boat ride to watch the sunset. As they neared the center of the lake, Evin asked Laura to light a firework and throw it up.  She was a little baffled by the question as they were enjoying a nice romantic boat ride, but did as he asked and when she turned around from throwing it up, found Evin on one knee with a ring in one hand and his phone in the other asking her to marry him!

Their February wedding day was absolutely perfect.  A fresh blanket of snow fell in the morning hours followed by filtered light in the afternoon to a beautiful sunset in the evening. Warming up just enough to bear the cold, we all headed to Essex Park in Rochester for outdoor photos.  Laura looked incredible in her custom made Azdress white gown and hair piece from Lo & Behold while her bridesmaids stayed warm and beautiful in their emerald green dresses from David’s Bridal in Rochester. The dried florals from The Posey Shop  (a brilliant idea for outdoor winter weddings in MN!) were a perfect pop of pinks against the gowns.  Evin wore a tweed dark brown suit jacket from Studio Suites, perfect to stay warm in the winter weather and his groomsmen looked stunning in the brown sweaters, gold ties and plaid emerald and navy scarves.  They sported their wintery boutonnieres from Which Goose.  Laura and Evin created their invitations from Vista Print and held their ceremony and reception at their home church of Mercy Hill.  Because the couple doesn’t care much for dancing, they decided to incorporate an improv comedy act for their guests after dinner of which many were entertained.

Laura and Evin, your wedding day was amazing.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart for asking me to document it for you, I am thrilled that you found one another and wish you both many blessings as you begin your life together!
